Lotsa good sense info. and advice here, Dirk; thanks.
For a change of pace sometime, do a column for the rich, well-travelled, sophisticated crowd; the rest of us might pick up some tips. I have one for you: on airlines do not neglect asking for a [free] airlines wheelchair to get you through customs, immigration, etc. if you can think of any legit. excuse for yourself or travel companion [and accompany her/him behind the chair!] You'll be amazed with the ease you pass through many 'checkpoints.' Any sprained ankle, recent surgeries, balance problems,'not feeeling well,' etc. will do.

Hi Tony,
I'm not aware of any Mini Cooper tours in Italy but I have come across a couple of driving tours that look pretty cool.
The first is the "500 Touring Club" in Florence at http://www.500touringclub.com/.

The second is "Sprintage Classic Cars Touring" at http://www.sprintage.it/.

I've never toured with either of these companies so I can't recommend them but they both look like lots of fun.

Thanks and please keep me updated.

Amazing! You must be incredibly observant and, also, be on shockingly intimate terms with the South of France. Thank you for giving us the inside scoop on "To Catch A Thief" - Monsieur Le Stuff would make a great guest for Turner Classic Movies and Robert Osborn the next time they show Hitchcock's "To Catch - - - ". It is one of Hitch's very BEST and my personal favorite!

Thanks for the comment Sue! Antibes is great and I look forward to exploring it more thoroughly. You might want to contact Maren at Casa Mare re: smaller accommodations. She may be able to lead you in the right direction. Good luck!

I love Antibes! I feel quite at home there now. I even got my Daughter and Son-in-law there and now they have a large apartment in Boulevard Foch and new block but they have a very large terrace with sea views. I do prefer the Vieille Ville though! I travel a lot around the back of the Cote D'Azur -so many lovely villages that some visitors never get to see! I hope to go again next February and take my cousin this time as my husband will be working. We'll go by TGV -the best way and explore new areas and get to see the Cirus Festival in Menton and the Mimosa Fests. also. Its a pity this accommodation is so big as we are looking for a 2 bedroomed place. {my daughters place is too big and anyway booked already!

Hi Melissa! Great to hear from you and I hope all is well. If the Terrace Restaurant is anywhere near the covered market in the old town then it's close to Rue du bas Castelet. I'm just beginning to learn about and appreciate Antibes. It's a great town!
